1. Introduction

SignalDeskNews.com ("the Service") is operated by International Gateway Network, Inc. ("IGN," "we," "us," or "our"), a corporation organized under the laws of the State of Texas, United States. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how it is protected, and the rights you have regarding that information.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information:

• Email address (required)
• Password (stored only as a one-way cryptographic hash — we never store your plaintext password)
• Name (optional)
• Phone number (optional)
• Time zone and account preferences

Service Configuration and Content:

• The RSS feeds and public web sources you choose to follow
• Briefing names, schedules, and settings you create
• The episodes and story history the Service generates for you
• A record of your acceptance of these terms (date and version)

AI Provider Keys (optional):

• If you choose to add your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key, we store it in encrypted form. See Section 4.

Technical Data:

• Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, access timestamps) retained for security and reliability

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Create and maintain your account
• Deliver the news aggregation and briefing service
• Verify your identity (email verification)
• Communicate with you about your account, service updates, or support
• Process payments when you purchase a paid plan
• Secure, maintain, and improve the Service

4. Your AI Provider Keys (Bring Your Own Key)

The Service's AI features (summaries, story grouping, translation, and audio) can run on an OpenAI or Anthropic API key that you supply. Providing a key is optional; without one, briefings are still generated as a simpler news feed.

• Any key you add is stored encrypted at rest using industry-standard encryption and transmitted over secure (HTTPS) connections.
• Your key is used solely to generate your own briefings and audio. We never share it, sell it, or use it for any other purpose.
• You can remove your key at any time from Profile → API Keys.
• When your key is used, requests are made to that AI provider under your own account, and the provider's own terms and privacy policy apply to that usage.

5. Artificial Intelligence Processing

Only the content of the public sources you configure is sent to AI providers for summarization and audio generation. Your personal information — including your email, name, phone number, and account details — is never sent to any AI provider.

AI providers currently supported: OpenAI and Anthropic. Text-to-speech (audio) is generated using OpenAI. Any change to the providers we support will be reflected here.

6. Third-Party Subscriptions and Paywalled Sources

The Service aggregates content from publicly accessible feeds and pages. Sources that are paywalled, require a login, or otherwise block automated access are automatically detected and excluded from your briefings.

We never request or store credentials for any news or media subscription you may hold, and the Service does not access, log into, or use those subscriptions on your behalf.

7. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

• Service providers — third parties that help us operate the Service, such as hosting, email delivery, payment processing, and the AI providers you configure. These providers process data only as needed to provide their service.
• Legal requirements — where required by law, court order, or to protect our rights or the safety of users.
• Business transfers — in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred. You will be notified in advance.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Briefing and story history is subject to storage limits based on your plan. Upon account deletion, your personal data — including any stored AI provider key — is deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

9. Cookies and Analytics

The Service uses only strictly necessary cookies required for sign-in and session security. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking, and no cookie-consent banner is required because we set no non-essential cookies.

We measure aggregate, anonymous usage with a privacy-friendly, self-hosted analytics tool that does not use cookies and does not build advertising profiles.

10. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures, including hashed password storage, encryption of sensitive data at rest, and HTTPS transmission. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information
• Delete your account and associated data
• Export your data in a portable format
• Opt out of non-essential communications

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know what data we collect and to request deletion. We do not sell personal information.

EU/UK residents (GDPR): You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your data. Our legal basis for processing is performance of a contract and legitimate interest. You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

12. International Users

The Service is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the US, your data may be transferred to and processed in the US. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you by email or in-app notice of material changes. Continued use of the Service after notice constitutes acceptance.
